Due to some recent unforeseen circumstances, the Blues at The Cove summer patio series show with Steve Strongman Band that was to happen on Thursday, July 13 will be postponed to another date. Canceling and/or postponing special shows like these is always tough but we will hope to book another date with Steve as soon as possible! Thank you to Steve for his understanding as he is such a considerate gentleman and consummate musician!

The new version of the ever-popular Blues on the Rideau Series (now called Blues at The Cove), continues at The Cove Inn with it’s “Summer Outdoor Series” on Thursday July 13th, 2023. We welcome a performance by Juno and Maple Blues award winner: the Steve Strongman Band.

Steve is one of the best guitarists and singer/songwriters in the country and a fabulous LIVE performer. Born and raised in Kitchener he fell in love with the Blues as a teenager after seeing the great Mel Brown perform. Mel recognized his talent immediately and helped mentor him into the superb guitarist that he is today. Steve won the Mel Brown Blues Award in 2009 – a distinction he still treasures highly. In the early 2000’s Steve married a Hamilton girl and moved to that city. He broke onto the scene with a roar in 2006 with the release of his debut album “Honey.” Since then, he’s recorded 8 more sessions (all great), including his newest – “The Strongman Blues Remedy Volume 1” which features some very special guests and has been receiving major international accolades and airplay. He also has an excellent LIVE show DVD.

Steve won a Juno for his 2013 album “A Natural Fact” and two of his other albums have earned Juno nominations. He was named Best Guitarist at the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2019 and he’s won and been nominated for multiple Maple Blues Awards in the categories of Best Guitarist, Songwriter, Recording, Electric Act, Acoustic Act and Entertainer of the Year plus winning several Hamilton Music Awards. Over the years Steve has opened for some of the best Blues artists in the world including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Joe Cocker, Jeff Healey, Randy Bachman and Jimmie Vaughan. This is his 6th visit to The Cove and we are VERY pleased to welcome him and his great band back to kick off the new Summer Outdoor Series called Blues at The Cove!
