The main front part of the building right at the corner of Bedford and Main was the residence of W.H. Fredenburgh, one of the early merchants and lumbermen. It was built around 1876 and has been extended multiple times since then. It was first used as a hotel in the 1930s and was owned by Alex and Lena Brown who called it the Lexena Hotel. This title stamp can be seen on the hearth in front of the fireplace in the Dining Room. The original bar and wooden beer cooler with “Tweedsmuir” inscription still exist today!
