ENTERTAINMENT & SPECIAL EVENTS

If you’re looking for some music to spice up your time in Westport, The Cove is the place for you to set yourself down. We bring in the best we can find and keep a healthy mix on rotation. From Blues to Jazz, Rock to Folk, Country to Bluegrass, Soul to Funk, we love it all. In the warmer months, larger performances and full band shows take place on our Lounge stage while solos, duos and small groups play to the patio crowds. When it gets cooler, all shows happen in the Lounge.

Always best to call ahead for reservations so you have a seat too! 613.273.3636

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 7:00pm, repeating indefinitely

With the assistance of Cove manager and musical director Seamus Cowan, we are once again bringing 4 wonderful and very different singer-songwriters together for an “Acoustic” songwriter’s circle at the Cove Country Inn on September 23th.

Host Kevin Head and Miss V have a regular gig at The Cove (as Head over Heels). During their gigs they strive to highlight the music of songwriters they love, including performing songs by each of the fabulous writers. They wanted to give people an opportunity to hear those songs performed by the actual writers. It’s a rare treat and truly special to hear a song done as the writer originally intended it to be – before all the “Production” happens and it hits the radio or CD.

This year’s lineup again has a very diverse mix of musical styles!
BIOS BELOW!
See you at the music!
Kevin and Vanessa Head
Rick Fines
Back by popular demand, Rick Fines is an engaging storyteller and songwriter. Steeped in roots music, he crafts a unique blend of warm-hearted blues, juke joint folk, and dockside soul that both embraces and defies the genres that influence him. As a veteran of the North American blues and folk circuits, he engages audiences with captivating songs, diverse guitar styling and his signature vocal growl.  He has won MapleBlues Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Acoustic Act Of The Year  (twice),  won first place in the blues category of 2003 International Songwriting Competition, with B.B. King one of the judges, received nominations from both the Juno and the Handy Awards, played for legendary blues piano player Pinetop Perkins. Rick toured from Newfoundland to B.C. to the Arctic last year alone.
“… the classic blues guitar picking and authentic-sounding vocals of Rick Fines were the sweetener. Harking back to the Blues ancients and using their music to inform his own, Fines was the classic unknown who whets the appetite – and an early opportunity to hear more would be welcome.” – Rob Adams, Scotland review  –The Herald, Glasgow Scotland
Suzie Vinnick
A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario, Suzie Vinnick is the proud owner of a gorgeous voice, prodigious guitar and bass chops, and an engagingly candid performance style.
Her career has seen triumph after triumph. Among her most recent successes: being nominated for a 2016 MapleBlues Award for Female Vocalist of the Year; achieving finalist status in the Solo/Duo Category at the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN; the  2012 CBC Saturday Night Blues Great Canadian Blues Award and the 2012 Sirius XM Canada Blues Artist of the Year. Suzie has won 10 Maple Blues Awards, 1 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Vocalist of the Year and is a 3X Juno Nominee
“…combined with her amazing guitar chops, Vinnick is just a blue note or two away from turning into a legend. “ – Music by the Bay Concert Series
Wendell Ferguson
Wendell Ferguson is a buffoon, a fool, a charlatan and a general nuisance…but he can play the guitar (a bit). He’s garnered 9 CCMA Awards, an OCPFA Lifetime Musician Award and was twice nominated for a JUNO. His CD, “Wendell Live! The Shit Hits the Fans!” was nominated for “Album of the Year” at the 2006 CCMA Awards. His latest CD, “Menage A Moi” won the ‘Instrumental Album of the Year’ at the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Awards. AND in September of 2014 he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. Despite all this he still remains the same unapproachable snob he’s always been.
“The man writes sharp, witty and head-spinningly brilliant tunes. He’s a cross between Roger Miller and Ray Flack. He has more in common with Mark Twain than Shania” – Twangzine

Jenny Whiteley
Whiteley has co-written songs with Colin Linden, Fred Eaglesmith, and her musician husband Joey Wright, among others, and has collaborated with many other renowned Canadian artists, recording vocals on Sarah Harmer’s hit song “Basement Apartment,” Melwood Cutlery’s Campfire and Prairie Oyster’s re-release of “Man In The Moon.”
In addition to her two Juno wins, she has been nominated four times as a solo artist and with The Junior Jug Band and Heartbreak Hill. She has a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award for her song “Baby, I” as performed by Amy Millan, a gold record for her family band’s recording and has toured all over the U.S., Europe and Canada, performing at nearly every major music festival including Edmonton Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Mariposa, Stan Rogers Fest, Stardust Picnic, and many more. Super huge surprise that her husband Joey Wright will be backing her on Mandolin, etc as well…
“Jenny Whiteley swings effortlessly from black-hearted back-porch Americana to Laurel Canyon country” – No Depression
