If you’re looking for some music to spice up your time in Westport, The Cove is the place for you to set yourself down. We bring in the best we can find and keep a healthy mix on rotation. From Blues to Jazz, Rock to Folk, Country to Bluegrass, Soul to Funk, we love it all. In the warmer months, larger performances and full band shows take place on our Lounge stage while solos, duos and small groups play to the patio crowds. When it gets cooler, all shows happen in the Lounge.
Always best to call ahead for reservations so you have a seat too! 1.888.COVE.INN

FÁNAID (Traditional Irish Music from Belfast, Ireland!!!)
July 12 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
…is a fiddle player, DJ and sound artist from Belfast, where he has been an active member of the traditional music scene for over 20 years. His fiddle playing draws inspiration from the music of Donegal where he holidayed as child.
He is much in demand as a session musician and has been teaching fiddle classes for ‘Belfast Trad’ for over 15 years. His compositions, released under the pseudonym Jan Jeffer, have featured on RTE Lyric FM, NTS Radio and at many of Ireland’s top music festivals, including the Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music, the Cathedral Quarter Arts festival and Electric Picnic amongst others.
Well known as a musician who loves to collaborate, he is closely involved with the free improvisation scene based around the ‘Sonic Arts Research Centre’ (SARC) and is currently involved in a collaborative project with drummer Conor McAuley and members of the ‘Echo Echo’ contemporary dance company.
In addition to his work with Fánaid, he has an ongoing creative partnership with fellow Belfast fiddle player Conor Caldwell, appearing on his album ‘To Belfast…’ released earlier this year to much critical acclaim. He and Conor have performed at the Out to Lunch Festival, SARC and at The Duncairn, in support of Eliza Carthy.
Fióna Ní Mhearáin…
… is a flute player, singer and fluent Irish speaker from Belfast who began learning music at tin whistle classes as a child hosted by the outstanding Belfast flute player Davy Maguire. This planted the seed for a love of traditional Irish flute playing and particularly the Belfast and Northern flute styles.
She regularly spends time in Drumshanbo in County Leitrim where she continues to hone her craft with Roscommon flute player John Wynne. She sings in both Irish and English and her style is influenced by the northern singers such as Christine Dowling, Maurice Leyden and Rosie Stewart.
She is a member of the traditional three piece female harmony group Sí, with flute player and singer Maria Rafferty and the multi-instrumentalist Clair McGreevy. She is also a member of HIVE, a contemporary vocal choir, who recently provided a live soundtrack to a film at the Belfast Film Festival and were Artists in Residence at the ‘Open House’ festival of architecture and engineering.
She has a passion for education and community arts, and currently delivers tin whistle classes for ‘Belfast Trad’, passing on her extensive knowledge of the tradition to the next generation.
…from County Down has developed a unique style of accompaniment that seeks to remain faithful to tradition while exploring new techniques for the guitar in Irish music drawn from a diverse background.
Over the years he has collaborated with a host of artists in various genres from flamenco troops (Al Andalus, K Passa Wipers) to jazzers (The Bog Frogs) and legends of Irish tradition such as fiddle masters Ben Lennon & John Carty and award winning singers Len Graham & Rosie Stewart.
He has recorded a solo album of original compositions and has also released albums with singers Mai Hernon and Rosie Stewart and most recently with acclaimed traditional trio d’Bize. Along with national and international TV and radio appearances he has toured widely both at home and in Britain, Europe and China.

POLICY FOR 2019/20
FOR CANCELLATIONS, REDUCTIONS OR NO SHOWS TO RESERVATIONS FOR
BLUES ON THE RIDEAU SHOWS
You will be required to give your credit card number plus phone number and/or email address when you make your reservations.
Your card will not be charged at the time of reservation. You pay the night of the show.
You have until one week (7 DAYS) prior to the show to cancel or change the number of spots you have reserved for and/or your rooms – at no charge.
The Cove will also continue its policy of calling or emailing everyone who has reserved in advance one week prior to the upcoming show as a reminder.
If you do not notify The Cove that have to CANCEL or REDUCE the number of reserved spaces on your reservation AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE SHOW – or if you are a NO SHOW the night of the Show – then YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT for the number of spots you have reserved.
However – understanding that sometimes unforeseen things come up at the last minute which can cause a cancellation – and in the spirit of good will – if this happens we will CREDIT you the full amount that your card has been charged FOR A FUTURE SHOW in 2019/20 (on a space available basis – Advance Reservation still required). We will do this on a ONE TIME BASIS ONLY..After that, if it happens again, your card will be charged and there will be no credit for a future show.
We are introducing this Policy due to the large number of last minute cancellations and No-Shows we have experienced on BOTR nights over the years. It is simply not fair to the people who would like to attend the Show but have been turned down because we have a full house reserved only to find on the night of the show that there are extra spaces because of late cancellations and No-Shows. And the loss of revenue from this is not fair to Choose The Blues Productions or The Cove Inn who have to cover all the fixed expenses regardless.
Bottom line: If you aren’t SURE you can make the show – or if you aren’t sure some of your party can make the show – then CALL AND CANCEL AT THE LATEST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE SHOW – or your credit card will be charged.
Fair? More than fair we think. Thank you for your understanding.
