In the warmer months, larger performances and full band shows take place on our Lounge stage while solos, duos and small groups play to the patio crowds. ART LAJAMBE (Country/Rock, Stoney Lake)
November 11, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Art began singing at a very young age and started playing guitar at the age of 8 years old. He attended Humber College as a vocal major and, after graduation, played keyboards in a Bruce Springsteen tribute band called Thunder Road.
In 1996, Art won the male open division of both the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest in Simcoe, Ontario and the CNE Open held in Toronto.
In 1997, Art won a showcase spot at CCMA week in Hamilton which generated some interest from producers.
In 1999, Art put out his first cd, No Strings Attached, through AME Records. The single, “Take My Hand” went to #64 across Canada on the country music charts.
After a 2 year hiatus from music, Art formed Mahogany Ridge and, after a few member changes, emerged with a line-up of players that featured fantastic 3 and 4 part harmony. The group put out 3 CDs during their 6 years together and competed on “Canada’s Got Talent”. The group got 3 “yeses” from the celebrity judges but didn’t make it through to the TV round.
During a trip to Memphis, Tn, Art stopped in Nashville for a few days and was able to realize another dream. He performed at the famous “Bluebird Cafe”. A place where songwriters play in front of other songwriters and industry people. Singing last certainly has its perks. Your song in the one that they remember most!
Along with country music, Art’s repertoire spans genres including classic rock, folk and 50’s & 60’s.
In 2013, Art took another short break from music where he and his wife, Suzanne, moved to the Stoney Lake area, northeast of Peterborough. And what a terrific move it was, musically. Peterborough is an amazing place for live music. The city truly embraces the spirit of live music. It’s everywhere!!
Although Art is currently focusing on his single, acoustic act, he is also involved in other projects including a duo called “Rural Roots”, a classic rock/country trio called “Gunslingers” and a traditional country group called “Tumbleweed”, which rounds out a fairly busy schedule.
